It\u2019s time to start adjusting to routines that make your mind, body, and soul feel connected. Let\u2019s start by acknowledging the truth: we all want to be healthier, but nobody has an extra two hours a day for a \u201cperfect\u201d routine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wellness isn\u2019t about grand gestures; it\u2019s about the tiny things we do consistently. These five \u201cmicro-habits\u201d take less than five minutes but have a massive impact on your mood and energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2026, my main goal is to try something new every month, and I challenge you to do the same. We often get so busy with work and lifestyle drama that we forget to take the time to change even one habit for the better. It may seem hard at first, but it\u2019s just about taking it one step at a time. It\u2019s about blocking out the noise and focusing on things that make you feel calm and like yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Here are my 5 MUST-HAVE Micro-habits:<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><i>Before you start: You can do these in any order you like or even use them as a spark to create your very own micro-habits that fit your lifestyle!<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1845\" style=\"width: 756px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1845\" class=\"wp-image-1845 \" src=\"https:\/\/cigdemozkan.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/pexels-karola-g-4021887-scaled-e1767909225449.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"746\" height=\"652\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1845\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Glass of Lemon Water<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><b>The Water First Rule<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we go through our busy daily lives, we tend to forget to stay hydrated. Drinking a full glass of water before you touch your morning coffee or tea helps your body wake up gently without being overpowered by caffeine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We wake up dehydrated. By hydrating first, you jumpstart your metabolism and brain function. It\u2019s a simple \u201cgatekeeper\u201d habit that ensures you start the day with a win. Having slow mornings brings more relaxation to your immune and nervous systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Personal Note:<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I remember back when I was working in retail (yes, your girl was a retail girl!), I would always start my day with coffee before breakfast. Since my fibroid recovery, I\u2019ve been loving how my body is loving me back. I\u2019ve been listening more rather than staying in &#8220;flight mode.&#8221; Seeing the growth of feeling relaxed rather than tense is everything.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1848\" style=\"width: 762px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1848\" class=\" wp-image-1848\" src=\"https:\/\/cigdemozkan.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/pexels-julieaagaard-2467285-scaled-e1767909327561.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"752\" height=\"728\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1848\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Laptop With Window View<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><b>Practice the 20-20-20 Rule<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This rule is one of my favorites. Now that I am a trainee wellness nutritionist, I am on my laptop constantly. Being in front of a screen most of the day causes a lot of strain on the eyes. It is so important to set a timer and take small breaks to reset.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of us suffer from \u201cDigital Eye Strain.\u201d This habit protects your vision and forces a \u201cmicro-break\u201d for your brain, reducing afternoon headaches and mental fatigue. Start practicing the 20-20-20 rule slowly, it\u2019s a practice everyone can do easily to give your mind the space it needs to refocus.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Mindful Transitioning: \u201cThe Doorway Breath\u201d Rule\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every time you walk through a doorway or start a new task, take one deep, conscious breath. Honestly, it works every time! When we don&#8217;t focus on our breathing, we aren&#8217;t letting our bodies feed enough oxygen through our brains to feel truly relaxed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is something I had to learn quickly during my recovery after fibroid surgery. I cannot believe how much breathwork can change the way you stay present with yourself. We often carry the stress of one meeting or task into the next; this \u201creset\u201d breath acts as a circuit breaker for stress.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1847\" style=\"width: 765px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1847\" class=\"wp-image-1847 \" src=\"https:\/\/cigdemozkan.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/pexels-roman-odintsov-8018924-scaled-e1767909442529.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"755\" height=\"903\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1847\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Stretch<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><b>The Body Scan Stretch Rule<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 60-second stretch where you reach for the sky, then hang towards your toes. This is another habit I love, and I do it every morning before I even eat. It helps my circulation and ensures there is no tension in my body. You feel honored to be stretching your body in such a peaceful way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We often hold tension in our shoulders and lower back without realising it. Taking one minute to physically \u201cunfurl\u201d tells your nervous system that you aren\u2019t in danger. It breaks the \u201csitting slump\u201d and sends a quick rush of oxygen to your muscles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYour body isn\u2019t meant to be a statue; give it a minute to move.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_148\" style=\"width: 842px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-148\" class=\" wp-image-148\" src=\"https:\/\/cigdemozkan.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/ftm-fw1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"832\" height=\"454\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-148\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Journaling<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><b>The Brain Dump Rule<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brain dumping is a habit every woman needs to do! At the end of your workday, spend two minutes writing everything and I mean everything &#8220;to-do&#8221; or worry currently circling your head. Once it&#8217;s on paper, tell yourself: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I will think about it tomorrow morning.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As women, we worry so much about everything! We shouldn&#8217;t be taking those worries into bed with us. Our bedtime is for relaxing and feeling free. Mental clutter is a massive drain on energy. Just pick one of these habits to start with tomorrow.
