One Year Later: Celebrating Her Body Her Power and Our First Wellness Afternoon

by | Jun 9, 2026 | Event, Journal, Personal Growth, Wellness

Exactly one year ago, Her Body Her Power was nothing more than a vision scribbled into the pages of my journal. It was a quiet hope born out of a very noisy, overwhelming period of my life.

Today, as I sit down to write this, I am looking at photos of a room that was filled with incredible women, yoga mats, shared moments, and deep laughter from our very first in-person wellness event in London.

We just hit our one-year milestone. If this past year has taught me anything, it’s that when women are given the permission to pause, connect, and heal together, something absolutely magical happens.

Where It All Started…

Why I Created Her Body Her Power

To understand why this milestone feels so surreal, we have to go back to the beginning. Her Body Her Power wasn’t created because I had everything figured out; it was born directly from my own healing journey.

A few years ago, I found myself facing major health hurdles, culminating in fibroid surgery. The physical recovery was tough, but the emotional aftermath was what caught me completely off guard. I felt profoundly disconnected from my own body, misunderstood, and incredibly alone. Navigating fibroid recovery made me realise how little spaces exist where women can talk openly about the messy, non-linear realities of women’s health and emotional well-being.

I didn’t want another woman to feel that isolation. I wanted to create a safe space where women could reclaim their narratives, understand their bodies, and step back into their collective power.

Bringing The Community To Life

What started as a deeply personal mission quickly grew roots. Over the past twelve months, this women’s wellness community began to take shape online.

Through our digital workshops, intimate journaling sessions, and raw conversations, we started breaking down the barriers that keep us isolated. Together, we’ve dived deep into the topics that matter most to women’s wellbeing, including:

  • Eat For Your Cycle: Learning how to nourish our bodies in tandem with our natural hormonal rhythms.
  • Taming the Inner Critic: Learning to speak to ourselves with kindness.
  • Radical Self-Love: Moving past wellness trends and into true self-acceptance.
  • The Gut Connection: Understanding the intricate link between our physical gut health and emotional state.
  • Setting Boundaries: Protecting our peace and honoring our energy.
  • Rebirth: Navigating life’s major transitions and rediscovering who we are.
  • Confident in My Skin: Embracing body acceptance and stepping into our innate power.

With every Zoom call and shared message, I watched a beautiful network of support come to life. But I knew the next step was to bring us all into the same room.

Goodie Bag…

Our First Wellness Afternoon: The Heart of the Journey

“There is a distinct shift in energy when a space transitions from empty to filled with the presence of women ready to heal.”

When the doors opened for our first in-person women’s wellness workshop and afternoon retreat, my stomach was a mix of nervous butterflies and fierce excitement. I walked into the venue and looked at the setup, the yoga mats neatly laid out, the fresh journals waiting to be filled, and the carefully curated goodie bags.

Then, the women arrived.

Yoga Moments…

We kicked off the afternoon with a grounding yoga session led by the incredible Jasmin, moving our bodies not for punishment or performance, but for release and celebration. Afterward, we nourished ourselves with some delicious food and took a moment to refresh our minds. Then, we opened our journals. The pens hit the paper, and the room fell into a sacred, reflective silence.

But the real magic happened in the spaces in between. As we broke the ice and shared our thoughts, the walls came down. We laughed, we validated each other’s struggles, and we reminded ourselves of what it feels like to be truly seen.

In One Year…

What Surprised Me Most

As a founder, you can plan every detail of an event, but you can’t script the human connection. Looking back, a few things completely blew me away:

  • The Courage to Come Alone: I was amazed by how many women showed up entirely by themselves. It takes bravery to walk into a room of strangers, but everyone came with an open heart.
  • Instant Chemistry: There was no awkward ice-breaker phase. The connection was instant, proving just how starved we are for genuine, soul-level interaction.
  • The Radical Openness: Women shared their deeply personal stories of health struggles, career shifts, and emotional blocks with total vulnerability.
  • The Absolute Need to Pause: Every woman in that room was carrying so much. Seeing them finally drop their shoulders and just breathe reminded me why self-care for women is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.

What I’ve Learned In One Year

If I could go back and whisper some advice to myself one year ago, here is what I would say:

  1. Community Matters More Than Perfection: You don’t need everything figured out to start. You just need to be willing to hold space for others.
  2. Healing Isn’t Linear: Whether you are navigating fibroid recovery, mental burnout, or a life transition, healing fluctuates. Having a community to catch you on the low days makes all the difference.
  3. Safe Spaces Are Vital: When women feel safe, they flourish.

What’s Next For Her Body Her Power

This one-year milestone is a beautiful chapter, but the story is just getting started.

Moving forward, we are expanding. You can look out for more wellness events in London, immersive online workshops, and new digital resources designed to support your health and mindfulness journey from home. We are dedicated to growing this community sustainably, ensuring it remains an accessible, inclusive, and empowering sanctuary for all women.

With Endless Gratitude

To every single woman who has attended a virtual workshop, read an article, sent an encouraging DM, or trusted us enough to show up to our first Wellness Afternoon, thank you.

To the incredible Bella, who generously opened up her beautiful space at Mica Yoga for me to use, and to all of our partners, collaborators, and behind-the-scenes supporters: this wouldn’t have been possible without your energy, love, and belief in this vision.

This is only the beginning. Our bodies hold our stories, but together, we hold the power.

Here’s to year two.
