Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Dried Hibiscus Flowers (use high-quality, organic if possible)
  • 4-6 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1-2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 Tsp Whole Cloves
  • 6-8 Cups Filtered Water

Equipment

  • 1 Medium Deep Stainless or Ceramic Pot (at least 2–3 quart capacity)
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons For accurate portions of hibiscus and spices
  • Fine-Mesh Strainer To separate the flowers and spices from the liquid
  • 1 Large Glass Pitcher or Mason Jars For cooling and refrigerated storage (glass is best for preserving the flavor)
  • 1 Wooden Spoon For stirring while the mixture simmers

Method

  1. Boil: Add the filtered water to a large pot and bring to a rolling boil.
  2. Infuse: Add the dried hibiscus flowers, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, and whole cloves to the water.
  3. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 15–20 minutes. You’ll see the water transform into a deep, rich ruby red.
  4. Steep & Rest: Turn off the heat. Let the pot sit on the stove to steep for another 10–15 minutes. This "resting time" allows the spices to fully release their medicinal properties and mellow out the flavor.
  5. Strain: Using a fine-mesh strainer, carefully pour the tea into a large glass pitcher or mason jars, discarding the solids.
  6. Cool & Store: Let the elixir cool to room temperature before sealing. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

Notes

Cee’s Serving Notes
  • To Drink Warm: Pour 1 cup of the concentrate into a mug and heat gently on the stove. Add a drizzle of raw honey for a comforting, grounding ritual.
  • To Drink Cold: Fill a glass with ice, add 1 cup of the concentrate, and top with a splash of sparkling water or fresh berries for a refreshing, hormone-healthy mocktail.
Important Notes for the Card
  • Adjusting the Strength: This recipe creates a high-potency concentrate. Hibiscus is naturally tart (similar to cranberry juice). If the flavor feels too bold for you, simply dilute your daily cup with 1/2 cup of water or sparkling water until it tastes just right!
  • The "Clean Pot" & Safety Tip: Hibiscus is beautifully pigmented and can stain, so it’s best to use a stainless steel or glass pot. Avoid pouring the hot liquid into plastic containers, as plastic can leach chemicals that cause hormonal disruptions, something we are actively working to avoid!
  • Sweeten to Taste: Because this is a medicinal tonic, I recommend drinking it unsweetened. However, if you prefer a little sweetness, add 1 tsp of raw honey while the tea is still slightly warm so it dissolves perfectly.
  • Best Time to Drink: I love having my cup in the morning to stabilise my blood sugar for the day, or in the afternoon as a "ritual" to replace sugary snacks.
  • Consistency is Key: Like any natural remedy, you’ll see the best results for your hormonal health if you enjoy your one cup consistently every day.
